Retention of Parts Policy
This policy explains what happens to parts and components removed from your equipment during servicing or repair by Air Compressor Services.
Why parts are replaced
Servicing a compressed air system involves replacing consumable and worn components — filter elements, oil separator cartridges, oils, belts, valves and similar items. Where a repair is carried out, failed components are replaced with new or manufacturer-supplied parts.
What happens to removed parts
Unless you ask us otherwise, parts removed during a service or repair are taken away by our engineer and disposed of or recycled through licensed waste routes. Used compressor oil, oil-bearing filters and separator elements are classed as hazardous waste and are handled accordingly.
Asking us to retain parts
If you would like removed parts retained for inspection — for a warranty claim, an insurance matter, an internal investigation or your own records — please tell us before the visit, or ask the attending engineer on the day. We will bag, label and leave the parts with you, or hold them for the period agreed with you.
We cannot retrieve parts once they have entered the waste stream, so a request made after the visit may not be possible to fulfil.
Warranty claims
Where a component fails under manufacturer warranty, the manufacturer may require the failed part to be returned for examination before a claim is settled. In those cases the part is retained and returned to the manufacturer, and it will not be available to you.
